CA Eligibility Criteria
To become a Chartered Accountant, you must complete the ICAI’s professional course.
This course is not open to everyone; having a strong background in Mathematics is essential. Additionally,you must meet specific academic requirements.

Students can visit the ICAI Self Service Portal (SSP) to check if they meet the eligibility criteria and easily fill out the CA application form for the CA exams 2025.

CA Eligibility Criteria 2025
The following are important steps of CA Eligibility Criteria to take before applying for the CA Exam :
• Ensure you have valid login credentials on the SSP platform. You can create one at https://eservices.icai.org/ if you don’t already have it.
• Make sure your course registration is still valid. If it has expired, you need to revalidate or convert itthrough SSP.
Revalidation:
CA Final registration is valid for 5 years, CA Intermediate for 4 years, and CA Foundation for 3 years.
You must revalidate your registration through the Self Service Portal once it expires. Revalidation fees are as follows:
• INR 500 for CA Final
• INR 400 for CA Intermediate
• INR 300 for CA Foundation
Conversion:
Candidates under the old CA scheme must convert to the new scheme via the Self Service Portal.
The conversion fees are INR 1,000 for CA Final Old Course to CA Final New Course, CA Intermediate (IPCE) to CA Intermediate, and INR 500 for CA CPT to CA Foundation.
Before filling out the exam form, candidates can update their photograph and signature on the Self Service Portal to ensure they meet the required dimensions.
Those with pending articleship status (CA Final/Intermediate Direct Entry) need to update their status on SSP.
For CA Intermediate students, if your Registration Mode (like CPT/Foundation/Graduate/ICSI) is not showing on the dashboard, raise a ticket on SSP to resolve this issue before the November 2022 exam applications begin.
CA Foundation Eligibility Criteria 2025
Here are the CA eligibility criteria to apply for the CA Foundation exam :
• You must be registered in the CA Foundation Course.
• If you were previously in the CA CPT course, you need to convert to the CA Foundation course before applying.
• You should have either passed your Class 12 exams from a recognized board or be appearing for the Class 12 exams.
• If you have passed Class 12, you need to upload your marksheet to SSP. If you are appearing for Class 12, you must upload your admit card.
CA Intermediate Eligibility Criteria 2025
Here are the CA eligibility criteria for the CA Intermediate exam :
For Candidates Through CPT/PE-I/Entrance/Foundation:
• You must be registered for the CA Intermediate course after pas4sing CPT/PE-I/Entrance/Foundation or have converted to CA Intermediate from IPCE/Intermediate(IPC)/Intermediate(Erstwhile)/PE-II/PCE.
• You need to have completed an 8-month study course by the first day of the exam month (e.g.,registered on or before November 1, 2022).
For Candidates Through Direct Entry (Graduates/Post Graduates):
• If you registered for or converted to CA Intermediate through Direct Entry (for graduates / postgraduates), you must complete 9 months of articleship before the exam month.
• If you initially registered through the CA CPT route, appeared in the CA Intermediate (IPC) exam (one or both groups), but did not pass both groups and later converted to Intermediate through Direct Entry, you need to start your articleship before the relevant month.
• If you registered through the CA CPT/CA Foundation route, appeared in the CA Intermediate exam (one or both groups), but did not pass, and then converted to Direct Entry, you need to commence articleship before the relevant month.
For Candidates Through Direct Entry (Inter Level Pass of ICSI or ICWAI):
• If you registered for or converted to CA Intermediate by passing the Inter level of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) or the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICWAI), you need to complete an 8-month study course.
CA Final Eligibility Criteria 2025
To apply for the CA Final exam , which is held in January, May, and September, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
Course Registration: Candidates should be registered under the CA Final New Course or have converted to the New Course as per ICAI guidelines.
Articleship Training: Candidates must have completed a prescribed period of 3 years of articleship training by the time of filling the examination form, or
Training Completion Deadline: Candidates should ensure that they have completed their 3 years of articleship training, including any excess leave, on or before 31st August 2025.Intermediate/IPCC/IIPCE Students: Candidates from the Intermediate/IPCC/IIPCE route must be in service as of 1st September 2025, serving the last six months of articleship training (including any excess leave), and due to complete the 3-year training period on or before 28th February 2026
